Цього року Суспільне Мовлення та шведська фундація Lingvis запустять в Україні вебзастосунок на базі LingvisPlay, який дозволить користувачам потокових сервісів Суспільного вивчати та вдосконалювати українську мову. Партнери також дослідять питання підтримки мов національних меншин в Україні.

Формат LingvisPlay, який отримав нагороду Prix Europa від Європейської мовної спілки, з'являється в Україні як рекомендований Інститутом навчання впродовж життя ЮНЕСКО та Управлінням Верховного комісара ООН у справах біженців:

•  Європейська мовна спілка нагородила LingvisPlay (бренд SVT Språkplay) премією Prix Europa за найкращий європейський онлайн-проєкт у 2018 році. 
• Управління Верховного комісара ООН неодноразово підтримувало запровадження LingvisPlay як спосіб пришвидшення мовної інтеграції у партнерстві зі суспільними медіа. 
• У 2022 році ЮНЕСКО включила LingvisPlay до глобального огляду технологічних рішень для грамотності та навчання біженців і мігрантів. Було виявлено, що LingvisPlay охопив найбільшу кількість біженців і мігрантів серед 40 ідентифікованих рішень.

Повномасштабне вторгнення в Україну створило найбільший потік біженців у Європі з часів Другої світової війни. Багато українських сімей потрапляють у нове мовне середовище. Для того, щоб у цей важкий час розкрити їхній справжній потенціал, важливо швидко вивчити або вдосконалити мову. Тому Суспільне Мовлення та фундація Lingvis інформуватимуть та пропонуватимуть співпрацю іншим суспільним медіа у Європі, щоб з їхньою допомогою українські біженці мали можливість вивчати європейські мови.

«Суспільне завжди єднало українців навколо рідної мови. Вже 22 роки поспіль ми проводимо Радіодиктант національної єдності, який пишуть українці та наші друзі на всіх континентах. З початком повномасштабної війни велика кількість колись російськомовних людей почала переходити на українську мову. Завдяки застосунку LingvisPlay ми допоможемо їм це робити, вивчати та покращувати українську», — розповів Родіон Кочубей, член правління Суспільного, відповідальний за напрям операційної діяльності.

Lingvis Foundation — це міжнародна некомерційна організація, заснована у Швеції, метою якої є прискорення мовної інтеграції біженців і мігрантів за допомогою цифрових форматів та інструментів, зокрема формату LingvisPlay. Співпрацює з місцевими некомерційними асоціаціями, такими як Språkkraft у Швеції, Lingvis Finland ry у Фінляндії та Lingvis CH verein у Швейцарії.

Формат LingvisPlay пропонує візуальний індивідуальний навчальний профіль із субтитрами (тією самою мовою), де зелені слова мають бути відомі користувачеві, жовті слова треба вивчити зараз, а червоні слова — пізніше. Користувач може торкатися на екрані слів і виразів, щоб побачити переклад й отримати доступ до вправ для вивчення нового словникового запасу, який, своєю чергою, динамічно оновлює індивідуальний навчальний профіль. Користувачі назвали його «ідеальним поєднанням Netflix і Duolingo».

New partnership for language integration — Ukrainian Public Service Media Suspilne Ukraine and Swedish Lingvis foundation

Suspilne Ukraine and Lingvis foundation will launch a LingvisPlay-powered service in Ukraine later this year that will empower users of Suspilne streaming services to improve their Ukrainian language. The partners will also explore how the LingvisPlay format can support the minority languages of Ukraine. The EBU Prix Europa-winning format LingvisPlay is coming to Ukraine as recommended by UNHCR and featured by UNESCO Institute for LIfelong Learning. 

LingvisPlay is an award winning media format. European Broadcasting Union (EBU) awarded LingvisPlay (branded SVT Språkplay) the Prix Europa for the Best European Online Project in 2018. UNHCR has multiple times supported the introduction of LingvisPlay as a way to speed up language integration in partnership with public service media. In 2022 UNESCO featured LingvisPlay in a global review of tech solutions for the literacy and learning of refugees and migrants where they found that among 40 identified solutions LingvisPlay has reached the highest number of refugees and migrants. 

The full-scale invasion of Ukraine has created the largest flow of refugees in Europe since WWII. Many Ukrainian families find themselves in a new language environment. To unlock their true potential during this time of distress it is crucial to quickly learn or improve the language. Therefore Suspilne Ukraine and Swedish Lingvis foundation will inform and offer collaboration to other public service media organizations in Europe to help Ukrainian refugees to the local language through public service media. 

"Suspilne Ukraine has always united Ukrainians around their native language. For 22 years in a row, we have been holding the Radio Dictation of National Unity, which is written by Ukrainians and our friends on all continents. With the outbreak of full-scale war, a large number of formerly russian-speaking people began to switch to Ukrainian. Thanks to the LingvisPlay app, we will help them do this, learn and improve it," said Rodion Kochubey, a member of the Managing Board of Suspilne Ukraine responsible for operations.

“We hope this will be a small contribution to a great country in distress. The strengthening of the native and minority languages is important to any country. Now we can bring this also to Ukraine. Finland’s public service media Yle is doing a great job helping Ukrainian refugees in Finland. With higher awareness of the possibilities to help we hope to bring this to Ukrainian refugees all over Europe,” says Niss Jonas Carlsson, co-founder and Chairman of Lingvis Foundation.

Lingvis foundation is a Sweden-based international non-profit organization with the purpose of increasing the pace of language integration of refugees and migrants through digital formats and tools, e.g. the LingvisPlay format. The work is performed in close collaboration with associated local non-profit associations like Språkkraft in Sweden, Lingvis Finland ry in Finland and Lingvis CH verein in Switzerland. 

The LingvisPlay format offers a visual individual learning profile in close captions (same language subtitles) where green words should be known to the user, yellow words to be learned now and red words later. The user can tap words and expressions to see translations and access exercises to learn the new vocabulary, which in turn dynamically updates the individual learning profile. It has been described by users as “the perfect mix of Netflix and Duolingo”.
