24 лютого, у річницю повномасштабного вторгнення росії в Україну, Метрополітен-опера спільно з Лінкольн-центром і Постійним представництвом України при ООН презентує програму «За Україну: Концерт пам’яті та надії».

Послухати концерт в Україні можна буде на хвилях Радіо Культура 27 лютого о 16:00.

Під час концерту у пам'ять про невинних жертв війни прозвучить «Реквієм» Моцарта, а в передчутті майбутньої перемоги нашої країни — п’ята симфонія Бетховена. Також зі сцени Метрополітен-опера вже не вперше лунатимуть гімн України та «Молитва за Україну» Валентина Сильвестрова. 

Класичні твори виконає оркестр під орудою канадського диригента Янніка Незе-Сегена. Солістами виступлять сопрано Голда Шульц та мецо-сопрано Емілі Д'Анджело, а також український тенор Дмитро Попов і український бас-баритон Владислав Буяльський.

Саме з Метрополітен у березні 2022 року ми транслювали наживо “Концерт для України”, відчувши підтримку всього світу. Метрополітен уже не вперше проводить великі культурні заходи, присвячені Україні. До того ж це одна з перших культурних інституцій глобального рівня, що привселюдно відмовилася від співпраці з російськими діячами культури після початку повномасштабного російського вторгнення в Україну. Це важливий сигнал для всього світу, адже культура не поза політикою. Культурний діалог неможливий із тими, чий світогляд уможливлює та виправдовує війну в Україні. Ми дуже щасливі транслювати події Метрополітен-опера, присвячені Україні, і давати нашій аудиторії можливість наживо долучатися до глобальних культурних подій».

14 березня у Метрополітен-опера відбувся «Концерт для України», який в прямому ефірі транслювали радіомовники Європейської мовної спілки й Українське Радіо. Спеціальна 70-хвилинна програма на знак солідарності з народом України розпочалася з виконання Гімну України, після якого прозвучали «Молитва за Україну» Валентина Сильвестрова, а також твори Семюела Барбера, Джузеппе Верді, Ріхарда Штрауса та Людвіга ван Бетховена. Переглянути трансляцію можна за посиланням. А 7 травня 2022 року Метрополітен-опера презентувала «Турандот» Джакомо Пуччіні, головну партію в якій виконала українська сопрано Людмила Монастирська. Українське Радіо та Радіо Культура транслювали оперу наживо.

Метрополітен-опера — провідний американський театр та один із центрів світової музичної культури. Його відкрили у Нью-Йорку в 1883 році на кошти акціонерного товариства «Метрополітен гаус-компані». 

Після повномасштабного вторгнення росії в Україну Метрополітен-опера відмовилася від співпраці з російськими артистами, які підтримували політику Кремля. 3 березня 2022 її дирекція оголосила про припинення співпраці з російською оперною співачкою Ганною Нетребко, яка підтримувала політику росії з моменту анексії Криму. 

Радіо Культура — головний осередок культурного життя країни в радіопросторі. На час воєнного стану мовить по буднях з 12:00 до 19:00.  В ефірі можна почути програми про актуальні культурні події України й світу, історичні рубрики та найкращі зразки класичної музики, улюблені літературні передачі — радіодетективи, радіодраму тощо. В інший час Радіо Культура мовить синхронно з Українським Радіо, транслюючи цілодобовий марафон, в якому надає слухачам і слухачкам оперативну та перевірену інформацію. For Ukraine: A Concert of Memory and Hope from the Metropolitan Opera on Radio Kultura

On 24 February, the commemoration of russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine, the Metropolitan Opera, in partnership with Lincoln Center and the Permanent Mission of Ukraine to the United Nations, presents For Ukraine: A Concert of Memory and Hope.

During the concert, Mozart's Requiem will be performed in memory of the innocent victims of the war, and Beethoven's Fifth Symphony will be performed in anticipation of our country's future victory. It will not be the first time that the Ukrainian anthem and Valentyn Sylvestrov's Prayer for Ukraine will be performed at the Metropolitan Opera.

The classical works will be performed by the orchestra under the direction of Canadian conductor Yannick Nézet-Séguin. The soloists will be soprano Golda Schultz and mezzo-soprano Emily D'Angelo, as well as Ukrainian tenor Dmytro Popov and Ukrainian bass-baritone Vladyslav Buyalsky.

Iryna Slavinska, Executive Producer of Radio Kultura, said: “This is an important event for the entire Radio Kultura team. It was from the Metropolitan in March 2022 that we broadcast the Concert for Ukraine live, feeling the support of the whole world. This is not the first time that the Metropolitan has held major cultural events dedicated to Ukraine. Moreover, it is one of the first global cultural institutions to publicly refuse to cooperate with russian cultural figures after the beginning of the full-scale russian invasion of Ukraine. This is an important signal for the whole world, because culture is not outside of politics. Cultural dialog is impossible with those whose worldview enables and justifies the war in Ukraine. We are very happy to broadcast the Metropolitan Opera's events dedicated to Ukraine and give our audience the opportunity to join global cultural events live.”

On 14 March, the Metropolitan Opera House hosted a Concert for Ukraine broadcast live by the European Broadcasting Union radio members and Ukrainian Radio. The special 70-minute programme in solidarity with the people of Ukraine began with the performance of the Ukrainian National Anthem, followed by Valentyn Sylvestrov's Prayer for Ukraine, as well as works by Samuel Barber, Giuseppe Verdi, Richard Strauss and Ludwig van Beethoven. You can watch the broadcast at the link. And on 7 May, 2022, the Metropolitan Opera presented Turandot by Giacomo Puccini, with Ukrainian soprano Liudmyla Monastyrska in the title role. Ukrainian Radio and Radio Kultura broadcast the opera live.

The Metropolitan Opera is a leading American theater and one of the centers of world musical culture. It was opened in New York City in 1883 at the expense of the Metropolitan House Company.

After russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine, the Metropolitan Opera refused to cooperate with russian artists who supported the kremlin's policies. On 3 March, 2022, its directorate announced the termination of cooperation with russian opera singer Anna Netrebko, who has supported russia's policies since the annexation of Crimea.

Radio Kultura is the main center of the country's cultural life in the radio space. During martial law, it broadcasts on weekdays from 12:00 to 19:00.
