Suspilne Ukraine has joined an open statement by the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) and other media and journalists’ organizations in calling for proper scrutiny of proposed changes to the funding of public service media in Czechia. In a joint statement, the signatories expressed concern over the fast-tracked consideration of a bill that would abolish the licence fee and fund Czech Television (ČT) and Czech Radio (ČRo) directly from the state budget.

Read the full statement on the European Broadcasting Union’s website.

The signatories include the European Federation of Journalists (EFJ), the International Press Institute (IPI), Reporters Without Borders (RSF), the Public Media Alliance (PMA), public service broadcasters from Bulgaria, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Armenia and Slovenia, as well as other media and journalists’ organizations.

Suspilne Ukraine is an independent media company with a strong presence across all platforms: the TV channels Pershyi, Suspilne Kultura, Suspilne Sport, and a national network of local channels; the radio stations Ukrainske Radio, Radio Promin, Radio Kultura, Radiotochka.
