Suspilne Media has signed a new content supply agreement with Mediaset Distribution, the international distribution arm of the Italian media group Mediaset. The deal covers broadcasting rights for 10 television series and 11 feature films from the Mediaset catalogue.
Among the highlights of the package is the Rivombrosa franchise, including the hit period drama Elisa di Rivombrosa, starring Vittoria Puccini and Alessandro Preziosi, together with its subsequent instalments. One of Mediaset’s landmark Italian dramas, the romantic period series follows Elisa, a young woman of humble origins who falls in love with Count Fabrizio Ristori against the backdrop of aristocratic intrigue and political conspiracies in 18th-century Piedmont.
Hryhorii Tychyna, Chief Producer of Suspilne Ukraine Television Directorate, emphasises that international content partnerships help the public broadcaster expand its selection of high-quality European content for Ukrainian audiences.
“At a time when Ukrainian viewers are facing enormous challenges, access to compelling stories and the cultural heritage of European countries is particularly valuable. Our partnership with Mediaset allows us to bring high-quality Italian television and cinema to the audience of Suspilne Kultura and strengthen its connection with Europe’s cultural landscape,” Tychyna said.
Also included is Le Stagioni del Cuore, starring Anna Valle and Alessandro Gassmann. This sweeping family and romantic drama spans several decades of Italian history, from the 1940s through the 1970s. Set around an upper-middle-class family in Turin, the series intertwines the relationship between Claudia and Sergio with the profound social and political changes taking place in Italy.
The package also features two biographical miniseries centred on internationally renowned figures. Rodolfo Valentino — La Leggenda, starring Gabriel Garko, traces the journey of the Italian-born performer from his difficult beginnings in Castellaneta to his transformation into one of the greatest icons of Hollywood’s silent-film era.
Directed by Giorgio Capitani, Callas e Onassis stars Luisa Ranieri as Maria Callas and Gérard Darmon as Aristotle Onassis. The miniseries chronicles the passionate and turbulent relationship between the legendary opera singer and the Greek shipping magnate. The cast also includes Serena Autieri and Anna Valle.
The film selection includes Beato tra le donne and Una donna alla finestra, a historical drama directed by Pierre Granier-Deferre and starring Romy Schneider, Philippe Noiret and Gastone Moschin. It also features Giuseppe Tornatore’s acclaimed film Stanno tutti bene, starring Marcello Mastroianni. The film follows a widowed father from Sicily who travels across Italy to visit his five adult children, gradually discovering that their lives are very different from what he had imagined.
Claudia Marra, Sales Manager at Mediaset Distribution, commented:
“We are particularly pleased with this agreement with Suspilne. It is an important deal for Mediaset Distribution and confirms the continued international appeal of our catalogue, from iconic Italian dramas such as Elisa di Rivombrosa to prestigious miniseries and classic films. We are also very proud that these stories will reach audiences in Ukraine through the country’s public broadcaster, especially at such a significant moment for the Ukrainian media landscape.”
