Suspilne Ukraine has opened applications for the second annual Iryna Tsybukh Young Journalists’ Support Programme. The initiative is designed for young journalists from Ukraine’s regions who want to grow professionally, work with topics related to war, memory, and public trust, and gain experience at Ukraine’s largest independent media company. Applications are open until June 21, 2026.

“For us, this Programme is about shaping a new generation of Ukrainian journalism capable of working with the reality of war responsibly, honestly, and with respect for human experience. We want young regional journalists to have the opportunity to grow in the profession while preserving the values of service, memory, and meaningful participation in transformative processes. These were the principles that mattered to Iryna in building Suspilne,” said Mariya Frey, Member of the Managing Board of Suspilne responsible for News and Regional Content.

Three laureates of the Iryna Tsybukh Young Journalists’ Support Programme will receive a three-month internship at the central newsroom of Suspilne Novyny in Kyiv. The programme includes personal mentorship from journalists Olena Removska, Oksana Seniv, and Anastasiia Ivantsiv, opportunities to create their own journalistic stories, visits to Suspilne’s regional branches, and a study trip to Sweden to learn more about the work of a public service broadcaster. Participants will work on topics including trauma-informed journalism and memorialization, war reporting, analytics, fact-checking, and countering disinformation.

The selection process will follow the official Programme Regulations and will consist of several stages: submitting an application, completing an online course, preparing a journalistic piece, interviews, and final evaluation. Young journalists up to and including the age of 25 are eligible to apply.

Based on the previous experience, we are improving the Programme, adding new practical activities and study trips focused on international experience to help participants immerse themselves more deeply in the profession.
