From March 3 to 6, the Irish public broadcaster RTÉ hosted a joint meeting of the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) Digital and Television Committees, which was attended by Viktoria Murovana, chief producer of Audiovisual Content at Suspilne Ukraine.

The main purpose of the meeting was to synchronize the strategic plans of both committees and improve coordination between member broadcasters in the context of global technological change..

Within the digital committee, Viktoria Murovana works in the product and content portfolio working group. Over the next two years, the group plans to develop a toolkit that will be available to improve content offerings and distribution, as well as to develop and integrate artificial intelligence tools into content production and distribution. Among the group’s key tasks is the development of sessions on content portfolio development and optimisation for participating countries. The issue of building cross-functional teams is relevant for all broadcasters. This issue is particularly relevant for Suspilne Ukraine as it continues transforming its technological, innovation and content divisions.

During the meeting, Viktoria Murovana presented the first results following the launch of the children’s app “Brobaks” and reported on the work of Suspilne Ukraine and the broadcaster’s new content projects, in particular documentaries. Thus, the meeting participants discussed opportunities for co-production and cooperation on large documentary projects. In addition, Viktoria emphasized the importance of the cooperation agreement signed last year with the European broadcaster ARTE, which is an important milestone in the development of Suspilne Ukraine.

During the meeting, special attention was paid to content distribution strategies on the YouTube digital platform. In particular, the BBC presented its development strategy on this platform. For some public broadcasters, the issue of active presence on YouTube remains controversial, as the priority remains the architecture of their own platforms, while a significant part of the audience consumes content on global video services.

The representative of Suspilne Ukraine sincerely thanked her colleagues from European broadcasters for their support and for maintaining their focus on Ukraine during the war.
