The project “Artillery” by Suspilne Kultura has won the Prix Italia 2025 international festival in the Digital Multimedia category. The final took place on October 24 at the Royal Palace in Naples. “Artillery” competed in the final with projects from the Swiss broadcaster SRG SSR and the BBC, forming the top three finalists.

The project presentations took place face-to-face with the jury members and a live audience at the MUSAP art museum, the Prix Italia headquarters in Naples. The three finalists of the category first presented their projects — explaining their value and multimedia approach — and then answered questions from both the jury and the audience.

«‘Artillery’ harnesses the power of music to loudly declare the value of life. The project breaks the boundaries between audiences, musicians, and content creators, united by a shared passion for art and humanity. Fulfilling the mission of a public broadcaster, ‘Artillery’ inspires a new generation of Ukrainians to define and shape their unique cultural identity, strengthening resilience against disinformation and cultural pressure», — said Oana Grigorescu, Head of the «Digital Multimedia» jury, Romania ROR, voicing the collective opinion of the jury members.

Yuliia Tkachuk, the project’s author and presenter who represented “Artillery” before the international jury, emphasized that this victory is not only a recognition of the team’s work but also a powerful signal of the strength of Ukrainian culture during wartime:

«In my presentation, I chose to focus on showing the international jury the realities of how Ukraine’s music industry is developing during the war — how new music is being created, major festivals are held, some artists raise millions for the Ukrainian Defense Forces, while others serve directly in the Armed Forces. I also highlighted how Ukrainians are resisting Russia, its cultural influence, and fighting for their identity here and now. My goal was to show that we create ‘Artillery’ not only to document these changes but to analyze them systematically.»

Yuliia shared that the jury was deeply impressed by how, despite Russian aggression, Ukraine continues to build a vibrant and rapidly transforming industry — while people still cling to fragments of “normality” amid chaos and tragedy. The jury was also interested in how “Artillery” builds its community and interacts with its audience.

«First and foremost, Prix Italia is one of those platforms where Ukraine’s voice is truly heard. And that’s important — because Russia’s full-scale invasion has lasted nearly four years, and the war since 2014. Here I had the chance to speak about our country and Suspilne’s work, and received strong feedback and support from colleagues around the world. Telling the story of ‘Artillery’ should be done with pride — we are a unique case that rivals the quality of projects from other public broadcasters. The Ukrainian music industry deserves pride — we have a wealth of great music and exceptionally talented creators», — emphasized Yuliia Tkachuk.

This year, Suspilne Ukraine was also represented among the Prix Italia juries:

  • Yevhen Chyzh, Chief Producer of Ukrainian Radio, served on the “Radio & Podcast Drama” jury;
  • Oleksandra Zakharchenko, Director of the Digital Content and Social Media Department, on the “Digital Multimedia” jury;
  • Volodymyr Omelchenko, Editor of the Diversity, Inclusion and Equal Opportunities Department, on the “Television Arts” jury.
