Merezha. Viina is a project on Ukrainske Radio that explores the history of Ukraine’s intelligence services and special operations. The third season covers the period from the beginning of the Russian–Ukrainian war to the present day. Many previously unknown details of military operations witnessed by Ukrainians will be revealed for the first time.
The program Merezha. Viina features first-hand accounts from direct participants in these operations — from the liberation of Mariupol in 2014 and the defense of Donetsk Airport to the de-occupation of Kyiv, Kharkiv, and Kherson regions. Among the guests is Colonel Yevhen Mezhevikin, Hero of Ukraine and National Guard commander who was the first to shoot down Russian helicopters in Hostomel, as well as participants in multiple military operations.
According to the project’s producer Olena Badiuk, special attention is also given to members of the resistance movement in occupied territories — those who risked their lives and were among the first to oppose the enemy.
“All the servicemen we interviewed continue to serve on various frontlines. Some interviews took months to arrange. These are unique testimonies showing how heroic our defenders are and how extraordinary their actions are in the name of victory,” — says producer Olena Badiuk. “One of the heroes of The Network told us, ‘The occupiers fled Kyiv region in disgrace.’ I’m confident the same will happen in other parts of Ukraine still under occupation — because our soldiers are doing everything possible and impossible to make it happen.”
