Suspilne Ukraine expresses deep respect and gratitude to all its employees who gave their lives in the struggle for Ukraine’s freedom and independence. Memorial Board
Oleksii Olkhovyk
Oleksii died on March 13, 2023, in Bakhmut, Donetsk region. He had been a Suspilne Ukraine operator since 2020, working on major projects on Pershyi. He traveled with colleagues on assignments covering military topics in the Joint Forces Operation zone.
On February 26, 2022, Oleksii joined the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He became part of a Kyiv Territorial Defense brigade and was later sent to the front in Donetsk. Oleksii is survived by his wife and daughter Eva, who was less than one year old at the time of his death.
Dmytro Siryk
Dmytro died on April 20, 2023. He was from Sievierodonetsk and worked in radio for over 15 years as a DJ, music editor, and radio host, including at Radio Puls, part of Suspilne Donbas. On-air listeners knew him as Ivan Lopata. In March 2022, Dmytro was drafted and joined the Armed Forces of Ukraine as a sniper in a mechanized battalion. He is survived by his mother, father, son, and fiancée.
In January 2024, a street was named in honor of Dmytro Siryk in temporarily occupied Sievierodonetsk, Luhansk region.
Iryna Tsybukh
Iryna died on May 29, 2024, in Kharkiv region. She had worked at Suspilne since 2017, collaborating with regional branches, producing interregional special broadcasts, managing grant projects, and making documentaries. She was also a media trainer and involved in educational projects promoting critical thinking and media literacy among children.
At the start of the full-scale invasion, Iryna was in eastern Ukraine. On February 22–23, 2022, in Pokrovsk and Kramatorsk, she presented her documentary on children from remote villages in Donetsk and Luhansk, who lacked inclusion.
On February 24, the presentation was scheduled for Sievierodonetsk, and the next day in Kyiv, but her subjects’ homes fell under Russian occupation. She joined the volunteer battalion Hospitaliers, serving several rotations at the front since 2014, evacuating the wounded and providing first aid.
Kyrylo Polikevych
Kyrylo Polikevych died on March 16, 2025, during a combat mission near Preobrazhenka, Pokrovsk district, Donetsk region.
Kyrylo was born and raised in Dnipro. In December 2008, he joined the then-regional television as a computer editing engineer.
After Suspilne was established, he worked on the interregional morning project from 2018. In 2020, he became a videographer.
He was mobilized on June 28, 2023, serving in the air defense brigade protecting Dnipro’s skies. Later, he defended eastern Ukraine and twice escaped enemy encirclement with his comrades. After rehabilitation, he returned to service in Kherson, then the east again. He was a grenade launcher operator in the 72nd Separate Mechanized Brigade named after Black Zaporozhians. In February 2025, he received the honorary award “Infantry of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.”
