Yevhen Hlibovytsky became a member of the Supervisory Board of the Supervisory Board of Suspilne Ukraine from public associations in the creative sphere. He was re-elected at a conference organized by the National Council of Ukraine on Television and Radio Broadcasting on January 14.
“I would like to sincerely thank the public organizations for their great efforts. Special thanks go to the organizations from the creative sphere for your daily work. I am convinced that the stability and development of the country largely depend on you. I am always open to dialogue and believe that we share the same understanding of the importance of priorities, mission, and service. So this is our common cause. Thank you for your support and for everything you do,” said Yevhen Hlibovytsky, a member of the Supervisory Board of Suspilne from the creative sphere.
Among the key priorities of Yevhen Hlibovytsky, as stated in his program, are protecting the independence of Suspilne Ukraine and strengthening its institutional capacity and trust, affirming the role and mission of this institution in society and professional circles, strengthening the brand with a focus on younger audiences, developing effective corporate governance and leadership succession, expanding external financing opportunities in wartime, diversifying and strengthening cultural and local content, and growing international presence, content markets, correspondent networks, and cooperation with the global Ukrainian community.
In total, representatives of 25 public associations from the creative sphere took part in the conference and, through a secret ballot, selected a future member of the Supervisory Board of Suspilne from among themselves. Yevhen Hlibovytsky received 113 points.
Mykola Chernotytskyi, Head of the Managing Board of Suspilne, addressed the conference participants with an introductory speech:
“The Supervisory Board of Suspilne is one of those extremely important bodies that proves its ability to protect the independence of the public broadcaster. I am glad that so many public organizations are involved in this process and that the selection is open and inclusive. Regardless of who is elected, the most important thing is to remain faithful to the mission of Suspilne — to protect freedoms in Ukraine.”
Oleksandr Pavlichenko, Deputy Head of the Supervisory Board of Suspilne Ukraine, noted: “Suspilne has gone through a rather difficult period, in particular thanks to the proper functioning of the Supervisory Board and its constructive interaction with the Management Board. In my opinion, this should be the motivation and source of inspiration when voting for future members of the Supervisory Board. I would like to remind you that the current selection will be the third stage in the formation of the supervisory board: the first members were elected in 2016, and work began in 2017. Today, we see tangible progress, increased professionalism, and qualitative changes at Suspilne, which have been made possible thanks to this interaction.”
Vadym Miskyi, Secretary and Chair of the Supervisory Board’s Audit Committee, noted:
“The creative sphere includes literature, art, creative industries, and our heritage. This is a very broad spectrum of categories that must be represented by this person on the supervisory board and, accordingly, in the company’s strategy and work. Because the supervisory board is the strategic management body of the public broadcaster. In general, culture, creativity, art, and creative industries are one of the main foundations of the work and areas of focus of public broadcasters in all countries.”
Dmytro Kozlov, a Member of the Managing Board of Suspilne, is convinced:
“For the large team at Suspilne, the work of the supervisory board is extremely important, because it is the roadmap that the company will follow for years to come. The members of the supervisory board are an important moral compass, so the whole team is watching the election process with great interest. We hope that the supervisory board will continue to be an effective and powerful strategic management body for the company.”
Tetyana Rudenko, a Member of the National Council of Television and Radio Broadcasting, emphasized that the process of forming the supervisory board of the public broadcaster is open and transparent, and all interested parties—the public, international organizations, parliament, and the media—can observe its progress.
“All information about the election procedures, which are quite complex and time-consuming, is posted on the official website of the National Council of Ukraine on Television and Radio Broadcasting. In addition, as always, we maintain contact with public associations that nominate their candidates, parliamentary factions and groups of the current convocation of the Verkhovna Rada, which delegate their representatives to the supervisory board of Suspilne,” emphasized Tetyana Rudenko. “And, as we all know, the legislator also stipulated that there should be at least one more representative from the public sector in the supervisory body. And this principle is always followed.”
Let us remind you that Yevhen Hlibovytsky has been elected to the Supervisory Board of Suspilne for the third time. His first terms were in 2017–2021 and 2021–2026, where he was the chair of the committee on appointments and remuneration of officials. He is the CEO of the Frontier Institute (a public organization called Pro.Mova Frontier), which conceptualizes strategic challenges for Ukraine, and the development director of the private enterprise AC Pro.Mova.
From 2006 to 2014, he was an OSCE expert in Central Asia and the Caucasus. Co-initiator and expert of a number of strategic groups and documents, including the Nestor Group, the Univ Expert Group, the Ivano-Frankivsk Development Strategies, and the National Youth Strategy until 2030. Until 2006, he worked as a journalist and editor in leading Ukrainian media. He began his career in journalism at the Post-Postup newspaper, headed by Oleksandr Kryvenko, and worked extensively with Georgiy Gongadze. He was one of the active participants in the journalists’ movement for freedom of speech and against censorship in 2001–2004. He teaches a course on social transformation in bachelor’s and master’s programs at the Ukrainian Catholic University. In 2000, he graduated from the National University of «Kyiv-Mohyla Academy» with a degree in political science. He also studied law at Ivan Franko National University of Lviv and philosophy at Bluffton University (USA).
In total, three candidates from the creative sphere applied for the position of a member of the Supervisory Board of Suspilne: Viktor Vintonyak, Yevhen Hlibovytsky, and Khrapko Halyna. On the eve of the conference, Viktor Vintonyak withdrew his candidacy. The next conference to elect a member of the Supervisory Board of Suspilne from civil society organizations in the field of ensuring the rights of national communities will take place on January 16.
As a reminder, the Supervisory Board of Suspilne is a collegial governing body consisting of one representative from each parliamentary faction and group of the current convocation of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine and nine members from civil society organizations and associations.
