A delegation led by Bundestag President Julia Klöckner visited the Suspilne office in Kyiv. Mykola Chernotytskyi, head of the managing board of Suspilne Ukraine, thanked the President and the German people for their support of Ukraine, spoke about Suspilne’s mission and its importance in Ukraine’s path to European integration, as well as the challenges of wartime.
Julia Klöckner was interested in how Suspilne Ukraine manages to ensure editorial independence, whether sufficient funding is allocated to the broadcaster, and what content the audience is interested in.
Talking about Suspilne Ukraine and the changes that have taken place since the full-scale invasion, Mykola Chernotitsky also spoke about how they managed to organize uninterrupted media broadcasting in wartime and showed the newsroom and studios in Kyiv.
“I would like to thank Bundestag President Julia Klöckner for her attention to our work and support amid the Russian-Ukrainian war. Suspilne Ukraine is a large company that continues to operate even during the most difficult days of Russian attacks. We work in the interests of Ukrainian citizens and ensure that they have access to verified information and high-quality content on all of the broadcaster’s platforms: television, radio, digital, and local channels. Currently, Suspilne Ukraine is one of the top five news sources from which Ukrainians obtain information, with a trust rating of 79%,” said Mykola Chernotitsky.
Mykola Chernotitsky also thanked DW Akademie for its support: joint educational projects and involvement in the creation of the modern newsroom of Suspilne Ukraine.
“It is very important for us that representatives of the German parliament have the opportunity to see firsthand how Ukrainian public broadcaster works during the war. During such meetings, we can show how Suspilne Ukraine ensures uninterrupted broadcasting and citizens’ access to reliable information in wartime. It is important for us that international partners see the role of independent media in preserving the country’s democratic stability,” said Valeria Bezpala, head of the foreign cooperation department at Suspilne Ukraine.
