Suspilne Media’s documentary “Culture in the Shadows”* has been nominated for the PRIX EUROPA 2026 international competition in the IRIS PRIX EUROPA category, which recognises outstanding European media projects focusing on identity, diversity and inclusion.
PRIX EUROPA 2026 will take place in Berlin from 11 to 16 October 2026. This year marks the 40th edition of the competition, which showcases outstanding European audio, video and digital media projects.
“Culture in the Shadows” is a documentary exploring the culture of the Kalderash, one of the Roma communities, and how it is evolving in contemporary society. The film weaves together the stories of people from different Roma cultures, exploring their views on family, education, freedom of choice, and the role of women within the community. The project was created by Suspilne Media with the support of House of Europe.
